In Janjgir of Chhattisgarh, two girls were caught red handed with their lovers inside the house. Both of them, out of fear and shame, tried to commit suicide by drinking pesticide kept in the house. One girl died in this suicide attempt. The condition of the other remains critical. The people of the locality beat up the lovers badly. After this, they were handed over to the police.
Premdas Mahant, a resident of Khokhara village of City Kotwali police station area, lives in a rented house with his family. He earns his livelihood by working as a labourer. On Tuesday evening around 7 o’clock, the husband and wife were not at home. At that time, their 17-year-old daughter Tulsi Mahant was alone at home. She also called her maternal uncle Parasdas’s daughter Khushboo Mahant to her house. Khushboo lives in Sakreli. After this, both of them called their respective lovers to their house.
According to the information received so far, it has been found that whenever their parents went out of the house, both of them used to call their lovers to the house. This had happened many times, so the people of the locality had got a clue of it. This time as soon as the lovers of both came to meet their girlfriends, the people of the locality created a ruckus. People beat up the lovers badly and handed them over to the police. Meanwhile, both the girls drank the pesticide kept in the house due to fear and shame.
The situation worsened after consuming the medicine. People quickly put them in a car and took both of them to Janjgir District Hospital. According to the statement given to the police by Khushbu, who consumed pesticide, there was a poisonous substance called formalin in her house which both of them consumed. One of the girls died during treatment. Seeing the condition of the other girl, she was referred to Bilaspur.
