Tourism: The backbone of Uttarakhand’s economy
In the last few years, the tourism sector of Uttarakhand has made remarkable progress. Tourism has become the backbone of the state’s economy due to adventure tourism, pilgrimage and initiatives promoting eco-perpetuation. According to the data of the tourism department, about 6 crore visitors were recorded in the state in 2023, which is 62 percent more than 3.68 crore in 2018.
Harshal Dilwali, director and CEO of Clarisa Group, has emphasized in a media statement that the tourism sector contributes significantly to the development of employment, income and infrastructure. He said, “With its rich spiritual heritage, beautiful landscape and adventure offers, this area attracts millions of tourists every year. When tourists come here to visit, it directly promotes local businesses and government revenue.”
Major pillars of development and future possibilities
Describing tourism as an important pillar in Uttarakhand’s economic growth, Dilwali said that pilgrimage site and eco-tourism initiative are accelerating development. Government initiatives like promoting homestay are improving the experience of visitors. He expressed confidence that 2025 will prove to be a milestone in the tourism development of the state.
This ambitious goal of the Uttarakhand government has the ability to take the state’s economy to new heights. The continuous investment in the tourism sector and the public-focused policies of the government will definitely establish Uttarakhand as one of the leading tourist destinations in the country.
