The police have caught a government lawyer red-handed taking bribe.
Ahmedabad: Gujarat ACB has caught a government lawyer of a civil court red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 20 lakh. Giving information about this, officials said on Wednesday that two brokers of the government lawyer have also been arrested in this case of taking bribe from a party. It is being told that a total of Rs 50 lakh was demanded from the complainant as bribe, out of which the lawyer had promised to take Rs 20 lakh first and the remaining amount was to be given after the court order. The lawyer had asked his middlemen to give the amount of Rs 20 lakh at a shop.
‘A trap was laid at the photocopy shop’
The entire matter has been given information in a press release issued by the anti-corruption agency. According to this press release, Rajendra Gadhvi, working as a government lawyer in Kathlal Civil Court of Kheda district, was arrested red handed while taking bribe from the complainant on Tuesday. The release said that two middlemen of Gadhvi were also arrested by ACB on Tuesday by laying a trap at a photocopy shop in Naroda. According to ACB, the arrested middlemen have been identified as Ahmedabad Metropolitan Court lawyer Suresh Patil and Vishal Patel, resident of Naroda.
‘Gadhvi was caught taking money from middlemen’
The anti-corruption agency said the complainant had recently filed a case in the Kathlal Diwani court against a person who had sold him a plot. ACB said that Gadhvi had demanded Rs 50 lakh from the court to help it decide in favor of the complainant. Of these, Gadhvi had asked for Rs 20 lakh in advance and the remaining amount after the court order. The agency said Gadhvi had asked the complainant to hand over the bribe money to Suresh and Vishal at a shop in Naroda area. After receiving the complaint, ACB laid a trap at the shop and caught Gadhvi along with his two middlemen while taking Rs 20 lakh in cash. (Language)
