'Governments get angry on seeing turbans', former SGPC president in support of Rahul Gandhi; 1984 riots highlighted

Former President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and leader of Akali Sudhar wave Bibi Jagir Kaur has supported the statement of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on the insecurity of Sikhs in India during his US visit. Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the truth has come out of Rahul Gandhi’s mouth. At present, not only Sikhs but also minorities are insecure in India, especially Punjab. Especially, governments and agencies get angry on seeing the turban of Sikhs here. She said that if there were no Sikhs or Punjabis, Pakistan would have ruled Delhi. Bibi Jagir Kaur said that since Rahul Gandhi is the Leader of Opposition, it is his duty to raise his voice for the Sikh riots of 1984 and create an environment or pressure on the central government to collectively apologize to the Sikhs.

There is no difference between Rahul Gandhi and terrorist Pannu: Ravneet Singh Bittu

Earlier, Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu had made a scathing comment on Rahul Gandhi yesterday saying that Rahul Gandhi does not like India. He has many weaknesses because everything about him is foreign, that is why he goes abroad and says such things. This time he has added fuel to the fire. Wherever referendum is held, where people like Pannu talk about breaking the country, why does Rahul not say the things he says here? He challenged him to show one such person who is not allowed to wear a turban, a bracelet or go to Gurudwara Sahib in India. According to Rahul, if this is so, then the question arises that who stops him from doing this, please tell us. There is no difference between Rahul Gandhi and Gurpatwant Singh Pannu.

Rahul’s father’s statement was the reason behind the 1984 riots: SGPC

At the same time, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) spokesperson Gurcharan Singh Grewal also targeted Rahul’s statement. He said that the senior Congress leader is trying to portray himself as the real sympathiser of Sikhs to humiliate the opposition parties. The truth is that Rahul’s father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi himself had said that when a big tree falls, the earth shakes. He had caused riots against Sikhs in 1984 by giving such statements. Rahul’s statement seems that he is not sympathising with the Sikhs, but making fun of them. Grewal said that both Congress and BJP are engaged in dividing the Sikhs under the policy of divide and rule.
