Jagannath rath yatra 2025: Today, on Friday, the grand Rath Yatras of Lord Jagannath are being taken out with great pomp and reverence across the country. Everywhere, the enthusiasm and faith of the devotees is being seen. The Rath Yatra began with traditional methods in many cities including Ahmedabad, Puri and Udaipur. For the first time, the Guard of Honor was given this grand religious journey.

Home Minister Amit Shah joins Ahmedabad

The 147th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat started from the historic temple in Jamalpur. During the Mangala Aarti in the morning, Union Home Minister Amit Shah joined his family and took the blessings of God. After this, God was offered khichdi.

Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra were seated on the chariot between 5 and 6 am. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel played the traditional ‘Pahind Vidhi’, in which the chariot route is shared with a gold broom. This Rath Yatra is counted among the most prominent religious events of Ahmedabad city. The Rath Yatra will run almost all day and God will return to the temple around 8:30 pm.

Rath drawing will start in Puri at 4 pm

Today’s biggest and historical chariot journey is going to be in Puri, Odisha. Here Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra will be seated on their huge chariots and the tradition of pulling the chariot will begin from 4 pm. Millions of devotees have reached Puri on this occasion. The ritual of ‘Chhera Panhara’ will be performed by King Gajapati in the Rath Yatra, after which the yatra will be launched.

June 27, Friday – Rath Yatra starts

On this day, Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra rode on their chariots and leave for Gundicha temple from the Jagannath temple of Puri. Thousands of devotees pull the chariots with ropes. Before climbing the chariot, the king of Puri plays a ritual named ‘Chhera Panhara’, in which he takes a gold broom and cleans the platform of the chariot.

July 1, Tuesday – Hera Panchami

When God lives in the Gundicha temple for five days, then on the fifth day Goddess Lakshmi comes to meet her because she is angry. This is called Hera Panchami.

July 4, Friday – Sandhya Darshan

On this day, there is a special darshan in the Gundicha temple for the devotees. All Gods see blessings by seeing. It is considered a very auspicious day.

July 5, Saturday – Bahu Yatra

On this day, Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra return to their temple in the chariots. On the way, they stop at the temple of Mausi Maa, where they are offered Odisha’s special dessert ‘Poda Pitha’.

July 6, Sunday – Sun Basha

On this day, Gods are decorated with gold jewelery. This is a very beautiful and grand scene, which a large number of people come to see.

July 7, Monday – Adhara Panna

On this day, a special sweet drink is offered to God. This drink is made in large pots of soil, in which milk, water, cheese, sugar and traditional spices are added.

July 8, Tuesday – Neeladri Vijay

]This is the last day of the chariot journey. On this day, God descends from the three chariots and goes back to his main temple and resides in the sanctum sanctorum again. It is called Neeladri Vijay, which means – “Return again in Nilachal (Puri)”.

Women also became an example of devotion

This time, the women’s rath yatra based on the ‘Operation Sindoor’ theme was also special, in which women participated in large numbers and gave the message of social equality and reverence.

Prime Minister Modi wished

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the countrymen on the occasion of Rath Yatra. He tweeted, “On the auspicious occasion of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra, many wishes to all the countrymen. This festival of reverence and devotion brought happiness, prosperity and good health in everyone’s life. Jai Jagannath!
