Gujarat News: A reputed private hospital in Ahmedabad has been accused of forcibly performing angioplasty on 19 people to avail the benefits of Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Two patients have also died during treatment. After this matter came to light, the Gujarat government has ordered an investigation. Let us tell you that under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), free health insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh per year is provided to the needy people.
Two persons – Nagarbhai Senma (59) and Mahesh Barot (45) died after undergoing angioplasty procedure and stent placement at Khyati Multispeciality Hospital located in Bodakdev area of Ahmedabad in Gujarat. After this his family and relatives reached the hospital. He has accused the hospital of negligence. Along with this, the family members claimed that both the persons were healthy earlier. He alleged that the hospital performed the angioplasty in a hurry to collect medical bills from the government under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
Strict action will be taken against the culprits
After this matter came to light, Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said that this alleged incident is very serious. He has ordered an investigation into the entire incident. He said if any facts or evidence of medical negligence were found in the allegations, strict action would be taken against the hospital and the doctors involved.
The Health Minister said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the hospital had organized a free medical check-up camp on Sunday in Borisana village of Kadi taluka of Mehsana district of Gujarat. During this period, 19 villagers were asked to undergo angiography. After this, angioplasty was done on seven patients and stents were also installed. Two of these people died. He said that SOP will be issued soon regarding organizing health check-up camps for private hospitals.

Former state health minister Nitin Patel also reached the hospital and interacted with 12 other patients. He told me that even his relatives were not aware of the surgery. They felt that he had been brought only for investigation. He had signed a form on the instructions of the doctors. Relatives of the patients alleged that the hospital conducted the operation in a hurry to avail unfair benefits under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and kept everyone in the dark.
