Haryana Congress: More than one and a half months have passed since the declaration of the results of the assembly elections in Haryana, but the Congress has still not been able to take a decision on the post of Leader of the Opposition. Due to factionalism in the party, a decision in this regard is not being taken.
This is the first time after many years that the winter session of the Haryana Assembly has been held without the leader of the opposition. Actually, 33 out of 37 Congress MLAs are Hooda supporters, but this time the party leadership wants to give the responsibility of Leader of Opposition to another MLA. The matter is still stuck due to the ongoing tussle regarding it.
Effect of factionalism visible during elections
This time Congress had high hopes in the Haryana Assembly elections but BJP captured power in the state for the third consecutive time. BJP won 48 seats while Congress had to be content with only 37 seats. Factionalism has been considered a major reason for the defeat of Congress. Such reports have also reached the Congress high command that if Hooda and Shailja faction had contested the elections together, the election result could have been in favor of the Congress.
From ticket distribution to election campaign, there was a situation of tussle between the two groups which had a very bad impact on the election campaign of Congress. Along with this, Hooda’s overconfidence also took Congress down. Hooda believed that this time it was certain that Congress would form the government in any case, but Hooda and Congress got a huge blow in the election results. After the election defeat, Hooda’s opposition group is blaming him for the defeat.
Congress is continuously blaming EVMs.
After the election results, Congress is continuously trying to blame the defeat on EVMs. After the Election Commission did not pay much attention to this issue, Congress has also filed a petition in the High Court regarding this matter. The High Court has definitely accepted this case for hearing, but it is very difficult to say when the hearing will start in this case and when the decision will come.
Someone else may get the responsibility in place of Hooda
The most surprising thing in Haryana is that even after so many days of assembly election results, Congress has not been able to take any decision regarding the post of Leader of Opposition. 37 Congress MLAs have been elected in the assembly elections and 33 of them are considered Hooda supporters, but this time the Congress leadership wants to hand over the responsibility of the post of Leader of Opposition to some other leader in place of Hooda. Through this, the party leadership is trying to end the factionalism of the State Congress.
Names of these Congress MLAs in discussion
The names of many MLAs are in discussion for the Leader of Opposition. These include the names of Aftab Ahmed, Chandramohan Bishnoi, Ashok Arora, Dr. Raghuveer Kadian and Geeta Bhukkal. Now it remains to be seen which MLA’s name is approved by the Congress high command.
It is believed that if Hooda is not successful in getting the post of leader of the opposition, then he will try to appoint someone close to him on this post. Congress MLAs are eagerly waiting for the decision of the high command in this matter.
