Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday blamed the Congress for the delay in seat sharing in the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Speaking to reporters, Raut said alliance constituents Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) and some smaller regional parties will meet in Mumbai on Wednesday and try to resolve problems in seat sharing. Elections to the Maharashtra Assembly are expected to be held in November this year.
Raut said, “Congress is busy these days but despite this we have called them so that this (seat sharing talks) can be concluded. They are very busy so they are giving date after date. So we have decided that we will sit together in the next three days.” Raut said on Tuesday that leaders of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) will hold talks on seat sharing between Wednesday and Friday.
He claimed that talks on Mumbai seat have almost been finalised but we need to have region-wise discussions as Maharashtra is a big state.

Let us tell you that the constituent parties of the Maha Vikas Aghadi are going to hold talks for three days on seat sharing in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. During this time, the leaders of the constituent parties will discuss all the 288 seats of the state as to which party will contest on which seat. Raut had also said yesterday that the formula decided in this meeting will be final. Raut also said that which party will contest on which seat will be decided on the basis of its winning ability.

When asked why the Congress and NCP (SP) performed better than the Shiv Sena (UBT) in this year’s Lok Sabha elections, Raut said his party’s votes transferred to these two parties in a big way. He said the Shiv Sena (UBT) had left Kolhapur, Amravati and Ramtek seats for the Congress, which his party traditionally contested from. Raut said if these seats were with the Shiv Sena, it would have definitely won. He said Shiv Sena (UBT) workers also worked hard for the NCP (SP), including the Baramati seat.
