A fierce fire in a factory making packets of biscuits and wafers (chips, salty) in Surat district of Gujarat caused heavy damage to the unit. Officials gave this information on Wednesday. Vijay Tandel, Deputy Officer of Kamrej Fire Center, said that a fire was reported around midnight in the factory located in the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) area in Borsara village. The official said the fire spread rapidly due to explosion in the flammable fluids kept in the drum in the factory, causing the situation to become complicated.
A large part of the factory burnt
He said that even after a hard work of about 12 hours, the fire party is trying to control the fire completely. The official said that a large part of the factory was burnt to gutting in the horrific fire. Superintendent of Police of Surat Rural (SP) Hitesh Joysar said that no casualties were reported in the incident. Tandel said that after receiving the information, 6-7 fire engines were sent to the spot. He said that teams from various fire centers also reached the spot.
Fire around midnight
Tandel said, “We were reported to have caught fire in biscuits and wafer packet making company. The fire started around midnight and six-seven fire engines were sent to control it. The fire spread after the explosion due to the chemicals present in the drum. ”The official said that the exact cause of the fire was not yet known.
