The heat wave is being seen in the plains like the month of May. The maximum temperature in Hamirpur, Kangra, Bilaspur and Una has reached 35 degrees Celsius. People are surprised by the hot mood of the weather in the last days of September. Due to the lack of rain, the heat is making people sweat even in the hill stations.
Heat breaks 30 year old record in Shimla
In the capital Shimla, the day temperature of 28 degree Celsius was recorded after three decades in the month of September on Monday. Earlier, in September 1994, the maximum temperature of Shimla was 28.6 degree. The maximum temperature has also increased in other cold hill areas Kalpa, Kufri, Narkanda and Dalhousie. The sky is clear in all the areas of the state on Tuesday and the temperature will rise further.
Heavy rain alert for two days
However, the Meteorological Department has predicted rains due to the monsoon activity from September 26. A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rains along with thunder and lightning in the plains and mid-mountain areas on September 26 and 27. People of the remaining 10 districts, except Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur, have been instructed to remain alert.
Light rain on 28 and 29 too
Director of Meteorological Center Shimla Kuldeep Srivastava said that monsoon is now in its final phase and its effect will be seen on 26th and 27th September. During this period, a yellow alert has been issued for rain with thunder and lightning in many parts of the state. There is a possibility of heavy rain especially on 26th September. He says that due to rain, there will be a decrease in the day temperature. There is a possibility of light rain on 28th and 29th September as well, although there will be no alert of any kind.
Nights also became hot, minimum temperature of 16 cities was above normal
With the slowdown in monsoon, minimum temperatures in the state have risen and nights have become warmer. On Monday night, 16 cities recorded above normal minimum temperatures. Shimla recorded 18 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 21, Bhuntar 19.5, Kalpa 12, Dharamsala 19.9, Una 22.6, Nahan 24.1, Keylong 10.2, Palampur 18, Solan 20.5, Manali 15.6, Kangra 20.6, Mandi 22.7 and Bilaspur 23.8 degrees Celsius.
23 roads closed due to landslides did not open
23 roads are still closed due to landslides after heavy rains in the state. Of these, the maximum 10 roads are in Kangra district. According to the State Emergency Operations Center, six roads are closed in Mandi district, four in Kullu, two in Shimla and one in Sirmaur.
According to the centre, efforts are being made to open the closed routes. Meanwhile, the Shimla-Bilaspur National Highway is getting blocked repeatedly due to landslides in Karada Ghat near Darlaghat in Solan district. This highway was closed due to the landslide on Sunday night. It was restored on Monday morning, but it remained blocked for several hours due to another landslide late at night. The movement of vehicles on the highway is continuing smoothly since Tuesday morning.
