Himachal Pradesh News: Due to the heaviest snowfall of the season, about 6000 people and more than 1000 vehicles are stranded from Solang Nala to Atal Tunnel. DSP, SDM and SHO are at the spot along with Manali police team… Rescue operation is going on… 700 vehicles have been evacuated. Kullu and Manali police teams are working tirelessly to rescue the stranded vehicles and tourists.
DSP Manali KD Sharma said the snowfall surprised many people, causing huge traffic jams. Despite challenging conditions, rescue teams managed to free 600 vehicles, ensuring the safety of their passengers. However, hundreds of vehicles and tourists are still stranded, leading to rescue operations. The snow storm that brought about seven inches of snow has disrupted normal life in Lahaul.
The state emergency operations center said 30 roads including the national highway between Attari and Leh, Khab Sangam in Kinnaur district, Gramphu in Lahaul and Spiti districts were closed due to snowfall. More than a thousand vehicles got stuck in Atal Tunnel due to snowfall and closure of roads. Out of which seven hundred were taken out till late night. Relief and rescue work is going on.
It is being told that 8 cm snowfall was recorded in Shimla, while 7 cm snowfall was recorded in Kalpa. The Meteorological Department said that intermittent light rain occurred in some areas in the lower hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh.
