On September 18, a warning of rain along with thunder and lightning has been issued in six districts. In this regard, a yellow alert has been issued in six districts, Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi. Light rain is likely till September 22.
During the last 24 hours, Bilaspur received the highest rainfall of 100 mm. Apart from this, 35 mm rainfall was recorded in Kufri, 28 mm in Kasauli, 27 mm in Neri, 24 mm each in Gohar and Karsog and 23 mm in Bijahi.
74 roads closed due to landslide, temporary houses and gardens destroyed in Rampur
The heavy rainfall in the state is not reducing the troubles of the people. Incidents of landslides have been reported at many places. In the remote area of Badhal in Rampur subdivision of Shimla district, many temporary houses and apple orchards were destroyed due to landslide. The flood in Shikari Nala on Saturday night wreaked havoc in Badhal and people left their homes and took shelter at safer places.
Badhal Panchayat’s deputy head Sanjay Jistu said that the landslide has damaged apple orchards of people in several bigha area along with 10 temporary houses. He has demanded the government and administration to assess the damage and give compensation to the affected people. Meanwhile, Naib Tehsildar Prem Negi said that there has been no loss of life in this incident and revenue personnel are assessing the damage.
Let us tell you that, earlier there was a huge destruction in Samej of Rapmur subdivision. Samej village was completely wiped out after the cloudburst on the night of 31st July. 36 people of the village went missing. Out of these, the bodies of 21 have been recovered, while 15 are still missing.
According to the State Emergency Operations Center, 74 roads remained closed in the state due to landslides till Monday morning. The maximum 39 roads in Shimla district are blocked. Similarly, 10 roads in Kangra, nine in Mandi, seven in Kullu, five in Sirmaur, three in Lahaul-Spiti and one in Kinnaur are blocked. However, the movement of vehicles continues smoothly on all the national highways of the state. Four electricity transformers in Chamba district and one in Kullu are also damaged.
