I am innocent my lord; Kolkata case accused Sanjay Roy wants release, what argument did he give for bail?

The lawyer of civic volunteer Sanjay Roy, arrested in the case of rape and murder of a female doctor of Kolkata’s famous RG Kar Hospital, has claimed his client’s innocence. Sanjay Roy was produced in court on Friday. During Sanjay Roy’s appearance, the lawyer told the court that his client has nothing to do with this crime and he is innocent. The lawyer claimed that there is no pending case against his client in any high court, so he should get bail.

However, the court rejected this bail plea and extended the jail custody of the accused for another 14 days. On Friday, the accused was produced virtually in the Sealdah court, where his lawyer sought bail. He said that the CBI has been investigating the case for a long time, but no concrete progress has been made so far, so it is unfair to keep the accused in jail further.

Before the hearing, the lawyer told the court premises that his client has neither committed any crime nor has been involved in any other criminal activities. He said that the CBI is investigating this case and so far no concrete evidence has been found to prove that his client was involved in this incident. Despite this, the court rejected the bail plea of the accused and extended his jail custody.

Another interesting turn came during the hearing on Friday when the judge expressed displeasure over the absence of the CBI lawyer in the court. The CBI lawyer, who arrived about 40 minutes late, appeared in the court and opposed the bail of the accused. The CBI lawyer demanded 14 more days of jail custody of the accused, which was accepted by the court.

So far only one person has been arrested in the case of rape and murder of a female doctor of RG Kar Hospital. The accused was arrested by Kolkata Police a day after the incident. According to the police, the accused had initially confessed to the crime. After this, on the orders of the court, the investigation of this case was handed over to the CBI and the accused was also given into CBI custody. The polygraph test of the accused has also been done but no concrete result has come out so far.
