Assembly elections are being held in Jammu and Kashmir after years. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is hopeful that it can form the government. However, so far the saffron party has been successful in forming the government only once, that too in alliance with the PDP. In this election, the BJP is trying its luck on its own. Meanwhile, National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah has claimed that the BJP can form a post-poll alliance with parties like the People’s Conference and his party for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.
Addressing party workers at Shalbug in Ganderbal, Omar Abdullah said the BJP was ready to form a government with other parties as well as independents. “Home minister Amit Shah was naming parties with whom they will not form a government. He did not name Engineer Rashid’s party, his own party, People’s Conference and many others. This means that tomorrow if the BJP wants, it can form a government with them,” he said.
According to ANI report, Omar Abdullah, who is contesting against independent candidates from two seats, said that the BJP can also form an alliance with those contesting independently.
Targeting Congress and NC, Amit Shah had said that both the parties want to bring back the old system and start talks with Pakistan. However, Amit Shah said that there can be no talks with Pakistan until peace is established. He also said that the manifestos of both the parties aim to spread terrorism, snatch reservation from Gujjars, Bakarwals, Paharis and Dalits, release criminals and start LoC trade with Pakistan.
The BJP has 25 promises in its manifesto. The main focus is on empowerment of women and youth, return of Kashmiri Pandits, renovation of temples and elimination of terrorism.
Let us tell you that Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections are to be held in three phases on 18, 25 September and 1 October.
