The United Hindu Front has issued a statement regarding the mosque located in Sanjauli, a suburb of Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. The UHF says that the mosque has been completely taken under the control of the Waqf Board and the Imam posted in the mosque has nothing to do with them, but they demand that if there has been large-scale illegal construction in the mosque, then the mosque should be demolished.
Front’s international working president and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jai Bhagwan Goyal said on Friday that if Shimla Waqf Board official Qutubuddin believes that there has been extensive illegal construction in the mosque, then why does he not support the demand of local citizens to demolish the mosque. Hindus have nothing to do with the removal or non-removal of the Imam. He said that it is a burning question that despite the Muslim population in Shimla being negligible, for whom was the illegal construction of a four-five storey mosque being done.
Jai Bhagwan Goyal said that Qutubuddin’s statement that no person from outside the state will be allowed to live here is nothing but an attempt to calm the burning issue and mislead the people. The minister of the state’s Congress government has also admitted that preparations are underway to provide shelter to Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslims here. A particular community has its eyes set on disturbing the peace of Himachal. He said that the tolerant Hindu people of Himachal will never let the malicious intentions of this community to build illegal mosques and tombs across the country succeed. Tomorrow the Municipal Corporation will hear the case in the court, which will be watched by all. The local people have been given two days’ time to demolish the illegal mosque. If the demands are not met, Hindus across the state can launch a massive movement to maintain peace in the state.
