In Bihar’s Nawada, fearless goons burnt down dozens of houses of Mahadalit families. The incident took place on Wednesday night in Krishna Nagar Tola, situated on the river bank of Dedoor village in Mufassil police station area. In the incident, most of the houses made of mud and straw of Manjhi and some Ravidas families were burnt to ashes. People allege that along with arson, the goons also opened fire. However, the police is not confirming this. Prima facie, the reason for the incident is being told to be a land dispute.
On receiving the information of this incident, police from half a dozen police stations of the district including Mufassil and Nagar police station, ASP, SDO and SDPO reached the spot. Immediately more than ten fire brigade vehicles from Nawada, Rajgir and Biharsharif have reached the spot and are engaged in extinguishing the fire. Nawada DM Ashutosh Kumar Verma and SP Abhinav Dhiman have also reached the spot.
There is deep anger among the people after the incident. Police and administration officials are busy in calming the people. People are screaming and crying at the spot. According to the officials, there is no news of anyone getting injured in the incident so far. Other damages are being assessed. Some suspicious people have been detained. It is being told that in this incident all the food and drink items kept in the houses of the poor have been burnt to ashes. More than 100 police personnel are present at the spot.
