Medical student lost his life due to ragging
A very surprising case has come to light in Patan district of Gujarat. Senior students of the medical college ragged with junior students inside the hostel. Due to this the junior student lost his life. Police have registered an FIR against 15 students of a medical college in Patan district. Police officials said on Monday that the 18-year-old student had been ragged by students before his death.

Police said all the accused are second year MBBS students. They kept some junior students, including the deceased student, standing in the hostel room for more than three hours on Saturday night. He was also tortured mentally and physically.
Case of culpable homicide registered
The FIR lodged with the police states that he has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other crimes. Officials of GMERS Medical College and Hospital in Dharpur, Patan said the accused students have been suspended from their hostels and academic activities till further orders.
Senior students ragging in hostel
The victim, Anil Methania, a first-year MBBS student, became unconscious after allegedly standing for three hours during ragging by his seniors in a hostel of the college on Saturday night, Medical College Dean Dr Hardik Shah said on Sunday. He died.
Statements taken for 20 students
The anti-ragging committee of the college headed by Dr Shah took statements of 26 students. This includes 11 first year and 15 second year students. The committee found that 11 first-year students were subjected to ragging by a group of 15 second-year students, a college official said on Monday.
Case registered against 15 accused
It was registered at Balisana police station shortly after midnight on Monday. According to the FIR, the 15 accused called Methania and his classmates, including 11 first-year students, to a hostel room for introduction on Saturday night. They made the junior students stand for about three and a half hours and forced them to sing and dance, use abusive language and not leave the room. Mathania’s health deteriorated due to the mental and physical torture inflicted on the students.

The victim fell unconscious around midnight. He was taken to the hospital. Where the doctors declared him dead. All these things have been said in the FIR. Based on the complaint by Dr Anil Bhatija, Additional Dean of the college, FIR has been registered against 15 students under sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) including culpable homicide, wrongful confinement, unlawful assembly and using obscene words. An FIR has been registered on the allegation.
