22 Indian fishermen arrived in Gir Somnath district of Gujarat on Tuesday. These fishermen were released from Karachi Jail in Pakistan. These fishermen were arrested by Pakistan’s maritime security agency while fishing in the Arabian Sea between 2021 and 2022. The fishermen expressed happiness over the release of the release and demanded that the process of release of other Indian fishermen lodged in Pakistan jails to be expedited.
VK Gohil, the fisheries assistant director of Viraval, said that there are still 195 Indian fishermen in Pakistan jails. In this group, 18 fishermen are residents of Gujarat, 3 from Diu and 1 of Uttar Pradesh. The Gujarat government said in a statement that Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel had requested the central government to release fishermen.
Stated the status of other fishermen
Gohail said that these fishermen were handed over to Indian officials on the Wagah border a few days ago. They reached Vadodara by train on Monday evening, after which Gir reached Viraval in Somnath district by bus on Tuesday, where he spoke to reporters and expressed concern over the situation of other fishermen in Pakistani jails. A fisherman said, “They are suffering from diseases and are facing the problem of eating and drinking. They are facing serious problems.”
“We are all 22 people sick”
Another fisherman narrated his objections and said, “Three and a half years ago, he was caught while fishing from the Gujarat coast.” He said, “We are all 22 people ill and many fishermen are still imprisoned there. We request the government to make every effort to get them released as soon as possible, because there are many problems in the jails there.”
“Injustice to 150 fishermen”
Released fishermen have also brought with them a letter of other Indian fishermen in Pakistani jails, in which they have expressed their pain. It is written in the letter, “We are 150 fishermen here. Two years ago, Pakistan’s Supreme Court released us, but we are still in jail. Almost all fishermen have become mental patients due to tension in jail. We have become mental patients. We have become mental patients. Sick, there is difficulty in breathing and suffering from skin related diseases, yet only 22 fishermen have been released from the rest of the 150 fishermen. Understand. “
