On Tuesday, outside the Akalgarh Gurdwara Sahib in Ferozepur, Punjab, bike-borne attackers opened fire on a family travelling in a car in broad daylight, killing three people. A woman was also among the deceased. Apart from this, there are also a father-son. All the deceased are said to be from the same family. One person was injured due to the bullet shot and has been admitted to a nearby hospital. His condition remains critical. The deceased have been identified as Akashdeep Singh, a resident of Kamboj Nagar, Ferozepur, his son Dilpreet Singh and daughter Jaspreet Kaur, while the name of the person injured due to the bullet shot is Anmol Singh.
As soon as the information of the incident was received, the police reached the spot and started investigating the firing by taking immediate action. The police has formed a team to catch the absconding attackers. This firing incident in broad daylight in front of Gurudwara Sahib has created an atmosphere of panic among the people.
The attackers fired 20 rounds
This incident happened on Tuesday afternoon. The attackers who came on bikes fired 20 rounds at the crime scene. According to the information, Kamboj Nagar resident Akashdeep Singh’s daughter Jaspreet Kaur was to get married after a month. Akashdeep Singh had gone out in the car with his son Dilpreet Singh, daughter Jaspreet Kaur and Anmol to do shopping for the wedding. Before shopping, the whole family had gone to pay obeisance at Akalgarh Gurudwara.
As soon as they came out of the gurudwara and started boarding their car, two bike-borne assailants came there and started firing indiscriminately at them. In this incident, Jaspreet Kaur died on the spot while Akashdeep Singh and his son Dilpreet Singh and another youth Anmol were rushed to the hospital in a bloody condition, where the father-son duo died, while Anmol Singh’s condition remains critical.
Police is investigating CCTV footage
The reason behind this incident that happened in broad daylight is not yet known. Police is conducting a thorough investigation. Police has cordoned off the area and is trying to identify and arrest the attackers. Police is also scanning the CCTV footage installed on the way so that the attackers can be identified. All three bodies have been sent to the Civil Hospital of Ferozepur for post-mortem. Meanwhile, police has registered a case against the unknown attackers.
