Delhi’s Patiala House Court has extended the interim bail of Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) President and Lok Sabha MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid till October 12. The court has directed Rashid to surrender on October 13. Sheikh Abdul Rashid also known as Engineer Rashid
Rashid was granted bail in a terror funding case registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Earlier, he was granted interim bail till October 2, which has now been extended till October 12.
Sheikh Abdul Rashid alias Engineer Rashid was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in a 2017 terrorism financing case. He was in jail since 2019. He was lodged in Tihar jail. Earlier, the court had granted custodial parole to Rashid on July 5 to take oath as a Lok Sabha member.
With this, today i.e. on 1st October, voting for the third and final phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections was completed. Now the election results will be declared on October 8. The eyes of the political world are fixed on the bail of Engineer Rashid and the results of Jammu and Kashmir elections.
