Uttarakhand New DGP: 1995 batch IPS officer Deepak Seth has become the new Director General of Police of Uttarakhand state. IPS officer Deepak Seth is the 13th DGP of Uttarakhand. He also took charge of the post of DGP last Monday. Till now, 1996 batch IPS officer Abhinav Kumar was holding the additional charge of the post of DGP of Uttarakhand Police. Who is IPS officer Deepak Seth?
Deepak Seth is a 1996 batch IPS officer of Uttarakhand cadre. Deepam Seth is a resident of Kunchalala locality located at Chowk in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. IPS officer’s father Radharaman Seth was a doctor. Deepak Seth’s early education took place at St. Paul’s Inter College, Shahjahanpur. After that he went to Nainital for further studies. Later his family started living in Bareilly.
After doing engineering, Deepak Seth did Masters in Police Management from Osmania University, Hyderabad. Deepam’s younger brother Anupam Seth is a doctor. His wife was also a doctor. He passed away seven years ago. After engineering, Deepak Seth started preparing for civil services and in the year 1994, he cracked UPSC and became an IPS officer. The time when Deepak Seth became an IPS officer. At that time Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand were one.
Deepak Seth has also been ASP of Ghaziabad and Noida and Superintendent of Police of Agra. After the formation of Uttarakhand state, his cadre was changed to Uttarakhand in the year 2000. After which he took charge of many important posts in Uttarakhand. Senior officer of Uttarakhand cadre, Deepak Seth was on deputation at the Center since 2019. Recently, the Uttarakhand government had written a letter to the Center requesting to relieve IPS Deepak Seth of responsibility. Before becoming DGP of Uttarakhand, Deepak Seth was holding the post of Additional Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal.
