Maharashtra New DGP IPS Sanjay Varma: A new Director General of Police has been appointed in Maharashtra. The Election Commission has appointed IPS officer Sanjay Verma as the new Director General of Police of Maharashtra. Recently, taking cognizance of the complaint of Congress, the Election Commission had removed Rashmi Shukla, who was posted as DGP.
Not only Congress, many political parties had also written a letter to the Election Commission for the removal of IPS Rashmi Shukla. IPS Rashmi Shukla was the first woman Director General of Police of Maharashtra. After removing Rashmi Shukla, the Election Commission on Tuesday handed over the command of the post of Director General of Police of Maharashtra to IPS officer Sanjay Verma. After the removal of Rashmi Shukla from the post of DGP, Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar was given the additional charge of the post of DGP of Maharashtra.

Sanjay Verma is a 1990 batch IPS officer. IPS Sanjay Verma was born on 23 April 1968 in Uttar Pradesh. Sanjay Verma has studied BE Mechanical. Sanjay Verma will retire from police service in April 2028. He was currently holding the post of DG of Law and Technology. It is noteworthy that elections are to be held in Maharashtra on 20th November.
