The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has today filed a charge sheet in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. According to the CBI charge sheet, the main accused in the case, Sanjay Roy, had raped the victim doctor and then murdered her. Officials gave this information on Monday. In a chargesheet filed in a special court in Kolkata, the CBI said Roy, who worked as a volunteer with the local police, allegedly carried out the incident on August 9 in the seminar hall of the hospital.
According to officials, the agency has not mentioned the charge of gang rape in the charge sheet, indicating that Roy committed the crime alone. Officials said the accused allegedly committed the crime when the doctor had gone to rest in the hospital’s seminar hall after having dinner at night. According to CBI sources, statements of around 200 people have been recorded in the charge sheet naming Roy as the prime accused. However, investigation is still underway to determine whether any other suspects were involved in the case.
