Speaking to the media a day earlier, Mamata Banerjee had said, it has been a month (the incident happened on August 9), so I request you people to return to Puja, participate in the festival. I have asked the CBI to ensure justice as soon as possible. Regarding the protests going on in Bengal since last month, she said, if you protest on the streets every night, then a lot of people will face trouble.
He said that elderly people live in many places. If you use a microphone, people’s sleep gets disturbed. Even under the pollution control rules, microphones cannot be used after 10 pm. It has been a month. We did not pay attention to these things.
Mamata Banerjee said that the investigation is with the CBI. The woman who was brutalized should get justice. She should be given quick justice by the fast track court. Bengal is being defamed all over the world. WhatsApp groups have been created for this. Those who ate from Bengal and stayed here are defaming it outside.
The parents of the deceased doctor have also reacted to Mamata Banerjee’s statement. They said, what about our festivals. We have lost our daughter. Come on, please return our daughter. If this had happened to their family too, would they have had the courage to say this? We celebrated Durga Puja with our daughter. But now we will not celebrate any festival. Her statement is insensitive.
BJP and CPM have also surrounded Mamata Banerjee. BJP’s Shubhendu Adhikari said that Mamata Banerjee considers people puppets. Will people get up, sit down, celebrate festivals and stop protesting just because she says so? Durga Puja is about to begin. But demons are still roaming around. Be patient, the power of the mother is about to awaken and this will bring change in Bengal. CPM leader Sujan Chakraborty said that Mamata Banerjee hopes that this protest will stop only when people get involved in Durga Puja. At the same time, she is not taking any steps regarding security.
