Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party has announced the name of the new candidate for the by-election on Tarari assembly seat of Bhojpur district. Jan Suraj has given ticket to Kiran Singh from here. The party had earlier fielded retired General SK Singh from this seat, but due to his name not being in the voter list, he was not eligible to contest the by-election. Therefore the party changed its candidate from Tarari. PK’s party has also changed its candidate from Belaganj assembly of Gaya district. From here, the party has made Mohammad Amjad its candidate in place of Professor Khilafat Hussain. This was announced by Khilafat Hussain himself in a press conference held in Arrah on Wednesday. He said that he does not want to contest the by-election, Amjad is the perfect candidate from Belaganj.
Jan Suraj’s candidate from Tarari, Kiran Devi, is a social worker. She has been working for women empowerment and education in the area for the last few years. At the same time, Mohammad Amjad, candidate from Belaganj, had contested elections on JDU ticket in 2005 and 2010, although he did not win.
Prashant Kishore, who has been taking out a padyatra across Bihar for the last two years, formed a new political party this month. This is the first election test of PK’s Jan Suraj Party. Jan Suraj has fielded candidates on all four by-election seats in Bihar. PK’s party fielded Sushil Kushwaha from Ramgarh seat in Kaimur district and Jitendra Paswan from Imamganj in Gaya district.

Voting will be held on November 13 for by-elections in four assembly seats of Bihar, Tarari, Ramgarh, Belaganj and Imamganj. The results will be released after counting of votes on 23 November. The last date of nomination for this is 25th October. Almost all the major parties have declared their candidates on all four seats. In such a situation, the situation of competition also seems to be clear. In Tarari, CPI(ML)’s Raju Yadav is contesting, while Vishal Prashant, son of powerful former MLA Sunil Pandey, is contesting from NDA on BJP ticket.
