Jharkhand: Shibu Soren, the patron of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and a strong pillar of the politics of Jharkhand, died on Monday morning at Sir Gangaram Hospital in Delhi. The 81 -year -old ‘Guruji’ was battling a serious kidney disease for the last one and a half months. His death has raged a wave of mourning across the country including Jharkhand.
His body was brought to Ranchi on Monday, where thousands of people gathered for the last darshan. Today (Tuesday), his body is kept in the Jharkhand Assembly for the last darshan of the general public and leaders. After this, his last rites will be performed in Ramgarh district with full state honors.
Shibu Soren was another name for struggle in politics
Shibu Soren was known as ‘Guruji’ in Jharkhand. He had taken over the Chief Minister of Jharkhand thrice and became a loud voice of Jharkhand several times in the Lok Sabha. He raised the image of a people by raising the issues of tribal rights, forest land and localism at the national level. His role in giving Jharkhand a separate state status was historic.
Political world immersed in mourning
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted and expressed deep grief over the death of Shibu Soren and recalled his contribution. Several leaders including President, Vice President, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Rahul Gandhi, Amit Shah paid tribute. Opposition leaders also described him as the ‘leader of the people’ and ‘struggling warrior’.
JMM workers and supporters mourn
Thousands of activists and supporters of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha are reaching Ramgarh today to give a final farewell to ‘Guruji’. There is a situation of mourning throughout the state and government programs have been canceled. The government has declared a two -day state mourning in honor of Shibu Soren across the state.
