Jharkhand News: After the victory of India Bloc in the state assembly elections, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has submitted his resignation to the Governor and staked claim to form the new government. Soren-led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) led the alliance to secure 56 of the 81 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly.
After electing himself leader in a meeting with MLAs of India Alliance at his residence today, Hemant Soren went to meet Governor Ashok Gehlot and staked claim to form the government. Soren will take oath on November 28. After leaving Raj Bhavan, Soren told the media that the resignation of the present government has been submitted to the Governor and the claim to form the new government has been staked. Meanwhile, there are discussions that along with the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister of Congress can also take oath on November 28.
JMM itself has won 34 seats, while Congress has won 16, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) four and CPI-ML two. On the other hand, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) managed only 24 seats, of which the BJP won 21 and its allies AJSU, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and JD-U won one seat each. Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha also got one seat, with party chief Jairam Kumar Mahato emerging victorious in Dumri.
As a result of the assembly elections held in two phases on November 13 and November 20, the JMM-led alliance managed to retain power in the state. After the victory, Congress leader Rajesh Thakur stressed the importance of the mandate, saying voters have rejected the BJP. He said, people have sidelined BJP here. Our focus will now be on public welfare and efforts will be made to fulfill the expectations of the people.
