K kasturirangan passes away: Kasturirangan, the former chairman of ISRO (ISRO), died today (25 April). He breathed his last at the age of 84 in Bengaluru. Please tell that he was ill for the last few days, and this morning he died at his residence. The body of Kasturirangan will be kept at the Raman Research Institute (Rri) for the last visit of the public on Sunday 27 April.

About Kasturirangan
Kasturirangan was also a major manufacturer of the National Education Policy (NEP) of India besides being the former head of ISRO. He also worked as the Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University and the Chairman of Karnataka Knowledge Commission. Apart from this, he has also been a member of Rajya Sabha (2003-09) and a member of the Planning Commission of India. K Kasturirangan led the ISRO, Space Commission and Space Department for more than 9 years. He left his post on August 27, 2003. He then worked as a director of the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bengaluru.
Contribution of Kasturirangan
He has been awarded the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan for the contribution of Kasturirangan. He oversee the launch of PSLV and GSLV. Kasturirangan has also served as the director of ISRO Satellite Center, where he was involved in the development of Insat-2, IRS-1A/1B and scientific satellites. Apart from this, he was the project director for India’s first Earth observation satellites, Bhaskar I and II. Kasturirangan contributed significantly to the study of cosmic X-ray sources, celestial gamma rays and their effects on the Earth’s atmosphere.
