After facing criticism for her statement on the farmers’ movement, Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut is in new trouble. Her upcoming film Emergency is facing huge opposition in Punjab. Sikhs are angry over the wrong portrayal of Sikhs in the film. Now this film has got entangled in legal troubles even before its release. Advocate Iman Singh Khara has filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court demanding a ban on the release of Kangana’s film Emergency. Iman Singh Khara is also the lawyer of MP Amritpal Singh who is imprisoned in Assam Dell.
Advocate Iman Singh Khara says that Sikhs have been portrayed in a wrong way in the film. The petition may be heard in a day or two. The special thing is that Iman Khara, who filed the petition, is also the lawyer of MP Amritpal Singh, who is lodged in Dibrugarh jail in Assam. Meanwhile, Sikhs protested outside the theatre in Bathinda. They burnt Kangana’s effigy. Sikhs say that the film should be banned.
Sikhs were shown as terrorists
The petition said that just by watching the trailer of the film Emergency, it becomes clear that the film promotes hatred towards the Sikh community and enmity between Hindus and Sikhs. Sikhs have been shown as terrorists. This is only a drama to defame the Sikh community and its religious institutions. On release of the film, the brotherhood and social fabric of the Sikh and Hindu communities can be destroyed. Especially the law and order situation in Punjab can deteriorate.
In such a situation, the release of the film Emergency should be banned and the Central Board of Film Certification should be directed to cancel the certificate issued to it for release.
Kangana has received beheading threat
Earlier, on 26th August, Vicky Thomas Masih had threatened to behead Kangana. Vicky Thomas had said in a viral video that history cannot be changed. If you are shown as a terrorist, then be ready for the consequences. What service will you do to the person whose film you are making. Who were Satwant Singh and Beant Singh (those who fired bullets at former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi), be ready to play those roles as well. I am saying this from my heart, because whoever points a finger at us, we cut off their finger. For Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala, we will even get our heads chopped off. If we can get our heads chopped off, then we can chop them off. After receiving the threat, Kangana had sought protection from Himachal Police and Mumbai Police.
SGPC has demanded a ban
This film of Kangana is based on the emergency imposed during the tenure of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film will be released on 6 September. In this film, she will be seen in the role of Indira Gandhi. On this, Punjab’s independent MP Sarbjit Singh Khalsa was the first to object to the scenes shown in the trailer. He said that Sikhs have been portrayed in a wrong way in it. He has written a letter to the central government demanding to stop the release of the film. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has also demanded a ban on the film regarding the film Emergency. The president has demanded an immediate ban on the film Emergency. He alleged that Sikhs have been portrayed in a wrong way in the film. Kangana Ranaut has deliberately made this film with the intention of misrepresenting Sikhs. Which the Sikh community cannot tolerate. He has demanded to register a case against Kangana Ranaut for inciting religious sentiments.
