Karnataka Tushà ¥ ¤ uttar pradesh news | Today latest update in hindi | Newstrack Hindi News | Up ka taaza samachar in hindi | Karnataka News: OBC reservation will increase in Karnataka, Commission recommends to 51 percent, Kota will reach 85%. News Track in Hindi

Karnataka News: There is now a preparation to increase OBC reservation in Karnataka. The Caste Census Commission has recommended OBC reservation in the state to increase from 32 percent to 51 percent in the state. A special meeting of the Karnataka Cabinet has been called on 17 April to discuss the report of the Caste Census Commission.

This recommendation is expected to be implemented in the state and in such a situation reservation in the state will increase to 85 percent. The state already has 24 percent reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and 10 percent for economically weaker sections.

Reservation should be applicable on population basis

The Caste Census Commission says that according to the ethnic census conducted in Karnataka, the population of OBC class in the state is about 70 percent. The Commission has said in its recommendation that reservation should be implemented on the basis of population. Only after taking such a step, government facilities and opportunities can be distributed equally to the people of the state.

The Commission has said in its report that during the social, economic and educational survey conducted in the state, the OBC class share in the total population of Karnataka has been found 69.6 percent. Nevertheless, less than half of the state’s population is getting the benefit of reservation facility. If reservation facility is not provided in the state on the basis of population, then government facilities and opportunities will not be equally distributed.

Commission has submitted report to the government

Social, Economic and Educational Survey in Karnataka was launched in 2015. This work was started by H Kantraj and this work was completed by Jayaprakash Hegde, Chairman of Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission. The Commission submitted its report to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the month of February last year.

The Commission has advocated implementing horizontal reservation in state government jobs and education. Under this, women, disabled people and other special classes get separate quota within the reserved category. In such a situation, separate reservation will be made for women and disabled under OBC reservation.

Decision will be taken in cabinet meeting on 17 April

A special meeting of the cabinet has been called on 17 April to discuss the report of the Caste Census Commission. During this meeting, the final decision will be taken regarding the implementation of the recommendations of the Commission. If these recommendations are implemented, the reservation limit in the state will increase to 85 percent. However, the Supreme Court has fixed the reservation limit up to 50 percent. In such a situation, this matter can also reach the court. In this case, everyone will be eyeing the constitutional and judicial reaction.
