Kedarnath and Hemkund Ropeway Project: In the presence of Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, an agreement was reached between the State Government and the National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) for the development of ropeway at Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib under the ranges in the secretariat on Tuesday. Under this agreement, NHLML will have 51 percent stake in equity participation and 49 percent of the state government. Under the revenue partnership, 90 percent of the amount will be spent in the field of tourism, transport and mobility in the state of Uttarakhand. Minister of State Road Transport and Highways, Government of India Shri Ajay Tamta and Tourism Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Satpal Maharaj were also present on the occasion of this agreement.
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this agreement will pave the way for new possibilities in the fields of tourism, employment, environmental protection and infrastructure along with providing new identity on the global stage of the state’s religious and cultural heritage. He said that under the ranges under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the construction of 12.9 km long at a cost of about Rs 4100 crore between Sonprayag to Kedarnath and Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib was approved to construct the construction of 12.4 km long ropeway projects costing more than 2700 crores.
The Chief Minister said that these projects will play an important role in strengthening the state’s economy with new dimensions in the expansion of ropeway connectivity in the state. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, rail, road and ropeway connectivity is expanding rapidly in the state. Chardham Allweeder Road, Delhi Dehradun Elevated Road, Sitarganj to Tanakpur Motor Road, Paonta Sahib Dehradun, Banbasa to Kanchanpur, Bhaniawala to Rishikesh, Kathgodam to Lalkua, Haldwani bypass and various projects related to road connectivity in the marginal areas are working towards strengthening connectivity. Extension of rail connectivity is also being done rapidly.
Union Road Transport and Highways, Minister of State Shri Ajay Tamta said that this is an important day in terms of ropeway development in the state. He said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, fast development works are being done in every field in the state. After the construction of these ropeways, devotees will be very easy to see Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib. Tourism Minister Shri Satpal Maharaj said that this agreement will play an important role in the development of tourism in the state. After the construction of these ropeways, people’s economy and employment will increase at the local level.

Sudhanshu, Additional Secretary, Road Transport and Highway, Government of India Mr. Vinay Kumar, Secretary Mr. Dhirap Javalkar, Mr. Dhiraj Garbiyal, Mr. Yugal Kishore Pant, Chief Executive Officer NHLML Mr. Rajesh Malik, Vice Program, Ropeway NHLML Mr. Prashant Jain, Additional Secretary Mr. Abhishek Rohila and officials of the Department of Tourism were present.
