Wayanad News: Two new townships will be built in Kerala, the Kerala government has made a big announcement regarding this. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has proposed to establish townships in Kalpetta and Kottapadi in Wayanad district. The government has approved the rehabilitation project. This approval has been given by the Kerala Government amid the ongoing dispute with the Central Government over the alleged lack of financial assistance. Let us tell you that this township will be developed in Wayanad district, from where Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been elected as Lok Sabha MP.
The Kerala government has approved a comprehensive rehabilitation project for the landslide-ravaged Wayanad district. Under this project, it was decided in July to establish two townships to provide a safe and sustainable environment for the disaster survivors to live. About 200 people were killed in this disaster. Along with this, many villages were washed away.
Two townships will be formed
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said two townships are proposed in the plantation estates of Kalpetta and Kottapadi, which will have all basic amenities. He said that this township will be equipped with facilities like houses, schools, health centers, Anganwadi, markets, parking areas, playgrounds, drinking water and sanitation. Along with this, the government will ensure that the rehabilitation measures also provide livelihood opportunities in sectors like agriculture, animal husbandry and micro entrepreneurship, so that people can move forward with their lives.

Start searching for land
CM said that this project will be completed from time to time. Along with this, all those willing to help will be made part of the project and their assistance will be coordinated with the government measures. However, suitable land is being found for the township, where all the survivors can live together at one place. It has been decided to acquire the proposed land as per the provisions of the Disaster Management Act 2005.
They will get Rs 15 lakh
The Chief Minister said that after rehabilitation, the affected families will retain ownership of their land in the affected areas. He also said that those remaining who want to keep themselves out of the township will be provided Rs 15 lakh each. The final list of landslide affected families will be released by January 25. Urlunkal Labor Contract Society has been selected as the contractor for this township scheme. A committee headed by the Chief Minister will also be formed to oversee the work of this project.
