A horrifying incident has come to light in Durg district of Chhattisgarh. A man killed his grandmother with a trident and offered her blood to Shivalinga. After that he himself tried to commit suicide. He has been admitted to the hospital. Police are calling it a suspected case of ‘human sacrifice’.
Police said on Sunday that a suspicious case of ‘human sacrifice’ has come to light in Durg district of Chhattisgarh. A man allegedly murdered his grandmother and offered her blood on ‘Shivalinga’ before trying to commit suicide. SDPO of Dhamdha area Sanjay Pundhir said that this incident seems to be the result of superstition. The incident took place in Nankatti village under Nandini police station area on Saturday evening.
A police team reached the spot after local people informed about the incident. The team sent the woman’s body for postmortem. She has been identified as 70 year old Rukmani Goswami. The officer said that the accused Gulshan Goswami, 30, has been admitted to the hospital in a critical condition.
He said that according to preliminary information, Gulshan lived with his grandmother in a room near the Lord Shiva temple. He used to perform rituals in the temple daily. On Saturday evening, he allegedly killed his grandmother with a trident in their house, the officer said. After that his blood was offered on the ‘Shivlinga’ in the temple. After this he returned home and attacked his neck with the same trident, seriously injuring him. He has been admitted to AIIMS, Raipur. Pundhir said that prima facie this incident seems to be the result of superstition. A case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is underway.
