After the liquor ban in Bihar, two Lok Sabha and one assembly elections have been held, but till now not only the ruling alliance but also no major opposition party has talked about removing the complete liquor ban implemented in Bihar since April 2016. But whether the ban on liquor continues or it is removed, an atmosphere is being created to make it an election issue in the 2025 assembly elections. Earlier, Prashant Kishore, the founder of Jan Suraj, had openly declared that if his government is formed, he will end the liquor ban within an hour. Now Mukesh Sahni, leader of Vikasheel Insaan Party, which is part of the Grand Alliance, has said that if the government is formed, the liquor ban will be reviewed.
Mukesh Sahni, while talking to the media after the meeting of party leaders in Muzaffarpur, said that the purpose with which Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had implemented the liquor ban has not been fulfilled. Today liquor is being delivered to every house. Mukesh Sahni has said that when the declared objective of the liquor ban has not been fulfilled, then there is a need to reconsider it. Sahni said that when they form the government, they will review it. He said that we will go among the people, conduct a survey and see what is the public interest, what is the interest of the state government, only after that we will take a decision.
Jan Suraj leader Prashant Kishor, who is going to announce a political party on 2 October on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, had said in an interview to the media in the month of August that if Jan Suraj gets a chance to form the government, it will end the liquor ban in one hour. Prashant Kishor had said that confusion has been spread in favor of liquor ban in the name of Gandhi ji, while he has never said anywhere that the government should ban it by making a law. Gandhi had linked liquor ban to social awakening that people should be told what is wrong with it, so that its consumption is reduced.
