A major accident has occurred in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. Two CRPF jawans died after lightning struck a training centre here.
Giving information about the incident, the police said that two jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) died on Friday when lightning struck the anti-Naxal training center of the paramilitary force located in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. An officer said that the incident took place around 3 pm on Friday. At that time, the training session of the jawans was going on at the training center located in the Barsoor police station area of the district.
He said that constables Mahendra Kumar and S S Alam of the 111th battalion of CRPF were seriously injured due to lightning. Both were taken to Dantewada hospital by ambulance, where doctors declared them dead.
He said that Mahendra Kumar was a resident of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh while S.S. Alam was a resident of Sahibganj in Jharkhand. The officer said that the families of the deceased soldiers have been informed about the tragedy.
Police said that on Thursday also, a CRPF jawan was killed in a similar incident of lightning during an anti-Naxal operation in neighbouring Bijapur district.
