Saurabh Chandrakar, owner of betting app Mahadev, has been arrested in Dubai. This action has been taken against Chandrakar after the Interpol Red Corner Notice issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Sources said that Saurabh can be brought to India in a week. ED has accused Chandrakaran of defrauding lakhs of people of billions through the app. After the arrest of Chandrakar, all the secrets of the entire network can come out.
ED has so far arrested a total of 12 people in this case. The central agency had said that the estimated income of crime is around Rs 6000 crore. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been investigating money laundering cases related to Mahadev App for more than a year. This matter came to light during the Congress government.
The EOW had registered an FIR under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act in March based on the report submitted by the ED after the BJP came to power in the state. Apart from app promoters Ravi Uppal, Saurabh Chandrakar, Shubham Soni and Anil Kumar Agarwal, the names of former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel are included in this.
ED has said that its investigation has revealed the involvement of many big leaders and bureaucrats of Chhattisgarh. Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal are the owners of this app who were running illegal betting business while living in Dubai. It has been claimed that the app was an umbrella syndicate that provided online platforms for illegal betting websites to register new users, create user IDs and launder money through ‘anonymous’ bank accounts.
