Maharashtra Election 2024 : Voters have shown great enthusiasm in the voting held on Wednesday for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. After the voting is over, now everyone is eagerly waiting for the election results. Even before the voting in this year’s assembly elections, a tough contest is being considered between the ruling Mahayuti and the Mahavikas Aghadi Alliance (MVA). The exit poll predictions that came after voting on Wednesday are also pointing in the same direction. However, in most of the forecasts, Mahayuti is said to get an edge.
Well, the biggest thing in this election is the voters’ active participation in voting. This time more than 65 percent voting took place in Maharashtra. This is the first time since 1995 that there has been such a high turnout. After almost 30 years, voters have shown so much enthusiasm towards elections. In such a situation, the biggest question now is what is the indication of more voting in Maharashtra and who is going to benefit from it between Mahayuti and MVA. BJP and Congress have claimed that their respective alliances will benefit from higher voting.
Highest turnout after 30 years
The voting figures of Assembly elections in Maharashtra have left behind the voting figures of Lok Sabha elections. During the recently held Lok Sabha elections, 61.39 percent voting took place in Maharashtra. According to the data released by the Election Commission till 12 o’clock on Wednesday night, the voting figure in this time’s assembly elections had crossed 65.1 percent. If we look at the voting percentage of the last assembly elections held in 2019, then at that time there was 61.4 percent voting.
In this way, this time in the assembly elections, more voting has been recorded than in the 2019 assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This is the first time since 1995 when voters have shown so much enthusiasm towards voting. However, in 1995, the voters of Maharashtra showed amazing enthusiasm and turned out 71.69 percent of the votes. In this way, after almost 30 years, a record of highest turnout has been created among the voters of Maharashtra.
What is the reason behind high voting?
The tough competition between the ruling Mahayuti and the MVA is being considered a major reason behind the high turnout in Maharashtra this time. This time a vigorous and intensive campaign was launched by both the camps. In view of the tough competition, the candidates contesting from both the camps also took keen interest in getting maximum votes so that their chances of victory remain intact.
Even during the recently held Lok Sabha elections, there was a tough contest between Mahayuti and MVA. However, MVA was successful in showing its strength in terms of seats. However, if we talk about the vote share received by both the alliances, then during the Lok Sabha elections, Mahayuti got 42.1 percent votes and Mahavikas Aghadi alliance got 43.91 percent votes.
Mahayuti includes BJP, Shinde faction of Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar faction of NCP while Mahavikas Aghadi includes Congress, Sharad Pawar faction of NCP and Uddhav faction of Shiv Sena. Apart from these six major parties, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, SP, AIMIM and some other small parties have also fielded their candidates.
Fadnavis claims BJP will get benefit
After higher voting this time in Maharashtra, different claims have been made by BJP and Congress leaders. Senior BJP leader and state Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said that whenever there is more voting in elections, the BJP has been benefiting from it. He said that this time there has been more voting compared to the previous assembly and Lok Sabha elections and definitely only BJP and the two other parties involved in the Grand Alliance are going to benefit from it.
Patole claims to form MVA government
On the other hand, State Congress President Nana Patole has claimed that the voters have voted with full enthusiasm in favor of the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance. Claiming the victory of MVA, he said that this time the self-respecting voters of Maharashtra have taken the initiative to elect the MVA government which gives priority to the development of Maharashtra.
Claiming the victory of MVA, he said that this time Congress will emerge as the largest party in the state. He claimed that according to the news received from various areas of the state, it is certain that the MVA government will be formed this time. He claimed that the two allies of Congress have also got good support from the voters.
