Maharashtra Election: Regarding the Maharashtra Assembly, the Central Election Commission has made it clear yesterday that elections will be held before November 26. Now political parties have also fully geared up to enter the election field. However, no consensus has been reached on seat sharing between Maha Vikas Aghadi i.e. Congress, ANC (SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT), the biggest reason for this is considered to be the increasing support base of Congress in Maharashtra.
Congress has performed better than expected in the Lok Sabha elections – 2024. Congress had contested elections on 17 seats here, out of which it had won 13 seats. Maha Vikas Aghadi’s ally Shiv Sena (UBT) contested 21 seats and won only 9 Lok Sabha seats, while the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) won eight out of 10 seats.
Not ready to compromise on less than 100 seats
In the last 2019 elections, the Congress party had failed to negotiate for the post of Deputy CM, now it is talking about contesting on as many seats as possible. The Congress party wants to contest 115 to 120 seats out of the total 288 seats, leaving 80-85 seats for the alliance partners – Shiv Sena (UBT) and 70-75 seats for the NCP (SP). However, no consensus has been reached yet regarding the seats. Uddhav Thackeray had also gone to Delhi in the month of August, but the Congress high command is not ready to compromise on less than 100 seats.
