Maharashtra Politics: In Maharashtra, Bharatiya Janata Party has given another blow to its alliance partner Shinde Sena. Shinde Sena was claiming the post of Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council, but BJP’s Ram Shinde filed his nomination for this post on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar were with Ram Shinde when he filed his nomination, but the other Deputy CM Eknath Shinde was not seen on this important occasion. This is being linked to Shinde’s displeasure. After not getting the post of Chief Minister and the desired ministry, this is being considered as the third blow of BJP to Shinde.
Shinde group’s claim rejected
In fact, Shinde Sena had also set its sights on the post of Chairman of the Legislative Council. Neelam Gore, vice president of Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, was being considered as a possible candidate for the post of Legislative Council Chairperson. Although no open statement was given by Shinde Sena in this regard, the party leaders were busy setting the stakes for Neelam Gore, but BJP filed the nomination of its party’s Ram Shinde for this post.
Various types of discussions are taking place in political circles regarding the absence of Eknath Shinde on the occasion of Ram Shinde’s nomination. Although no open statement has been given by Shinde Sena in this regard, it is believed that due to resentment, Shinde distanced himself from the nomination.
Now both the president posts are occupied by BJP only.
Due to the division between Shiv Sena and NCP, the election of the Chairman of the Legislative Council could not be held in 2022 and 2023. BJP has majority in the Legislative Council but Shinde was keen to get the post of Chairman of the Sena Council. Actually, BJP also has the post of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and in such a situation, there was a demand from Shinde Sena to give him the post of Chairman of the Legislative Council, but this wish of Deputy CM Eknath Shinde could not be fulfilled. Now only BJP faces will sit on the chair of the Speaker of both the Assembly and the Legislative Council.
Ram Shinde has lost in the last two elections
BJP has tried to solve the caste equation by appointing Ram Shinde, who comes from Dhangar community, on this post. Although Ram Shinde has lost both the 2019 and 2024 assembly elections, still it was decided to appoint him to this post. In both the elections, Ram Shinde had to face defeat from NCP’s Rohit Pawar on Karjat Jamkhed seat.
Ram Shinde is sure to be elected unopposed
After losing the 2019 assembly elections, Ram Shinde was made a member of the Legislative Council on behalf of the BJP to woo the Dhangar community. MLA Gopichand Padalkar, who belongs to the Dhangar community, has already got a place in the Fadnavis cabinet.
In such a situation, BJP has made a big political move by electing Ram Shinde as the Legislative Council Chairman. Considering the strength of BJP in the Legislative Council, it is considered certain that he will be elected unopposed. However, Ram Shinde’s candidature is being seen as a big blow for Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.
