Maharashtra Politics: After the assembly elections in Maharashtra, the date of 5th December has been fixed for the swearing in of the new Chief Minister. The name of the Chief Minister has not been announced yet by the Mahayuti alliance, which won a big victory in the assembly elections, but BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is being considered the strongest contender for the post of CM. Before the swearing in of the new Chief Minister, NCP’s Ajit Pawar has got into a big political trouble. NCP has said that the party should get equal share in the government as Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena.
Senior party leader Chhagan Bhujbal said that his party’s strike rate has been better in the recent assembly elections and in such a situation his party will not accept less than equal share as Shinde’s party. Amidst efforts to form a new government in Maharashtra, this demand made by NCP may prove to increase the crisis of Mahayuti.
Shinde demands ministerial post equal to Sena
Senior leader of Ajit Pawar faction Chhagan Bhujbal said that the performance of our party during the assembly elections has been very good. In such a situation, our party deserves equal representation as Shinde’s Shiv Sena in the new government.
He said that if we look at the strike rate during the assembly elections, then in this matter also we are ahead of Shinde Sena. In terms of strike rate, BJP is at number one, our party is at number two while Shinde’s Shiv Sena is at number three. Therefore, our demand for equal share in the new government cannot be justified.
Election of BJP legislature party leader tomorrow
The results of the assembly elections in Maharashtra were declared on November 23, but even after 10 days have passed, the new government has not been formed yet. In fact, the matter is still stuck due to the issue regarding the post of Chief Minister in the ruling Grand Alliance. The date of 5th December has been fixed for the swearing in of the new Chief Minister. It is believed that after being elected the leader of the BJP legislature party, Devendra Fadnavis can take oath as Chief Minister on the fifth.
The BJP Legislature Party meeting is going to be held tomorrow and for this, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani have been made observers on behalf of the top leadership of BJP. It is believed that Fadnavis’s name will be approved during this meeting.
It is considered certain that Ajit Pawar will become the Deputy CM in the new government, but it has not been decided yet whether Eknath Shinde will accept the post of Deputy CM or not. If Eknath Shinde is not ready to become Deputy CM, then his son Shrikant Shinde can be made Deputy CM. However, names of many more claimants have also emerged.
There will be a lot of tussle in the formation of the government
Political experts believe that after choosing the new Chief Minister, the path of government formation will not be easy. NCP’s Ajit Pawar faction’s demand for equal share with Shinde’s Shiv Sena has made it clear that the party will try to get as many ministerial posts as possible. On the other hand, after leaving the post of Chief Minister, Shinde will not be ready to give up the number two position in the Sena government. In such a situation, the possibility of a tussle during government formation cannot be ruled out.
Along with the ministerial posts, distribution of departments will also be full of difficulties as there is already a tussle between BJP as well as Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar faction over the creamy and important ministries. This tussle is likely to intensify further after the swearing-in of the new Chief Minister.
