Maharashtra Politics: After Mahayuti’s victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, there was suspense over the name of the next CM, which is now over. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar has almost made the picture clear regarding the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the formation of the government. He said that Shiv Sena and NCP will be given the post of Deputy CM, while the Chief Minister will be from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar on Saturday said amid suspense over the selection of the new Chief Minister that the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra will be from the Bharatiya Janata Party and two Deputy Chief Ministers will be from Mahayuti allies. He said that most likely the swearing-in ceremony would take place on December 5. We have decided to move forward with a strong vision.
His comments came after Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule confirmed that the new grand alliance government will take oath at Azad Maidan in Mumbai on December 5. Chandrashekhar Bawankule wrote in a post on his social media handle X that the swearing-in ceremony of the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra. It will be held at Azad Maidan, Mumbai on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 5 pm in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the pride of the world.

Last Thursday, caretaker Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief JP Nadda in Delhi. Earlier, Eknath Shinde had made it clear in a press conference that any decision on the post of Chief Minister by the top leadership of BJP would be acceptable to him. He had said that I called PM Modi and Amit Shah and asked them to take a decision (who will be on the post of Chief Minister) and assured them that whatever decision they take, I will follow it.
At the same time, Shiv Sena leader Shambhuraj Desai said that senior leaders of Mahayuti will sit together and discuss the cabinet formation and make a formula for everything. He said Shiv Sena and NCP have already elected Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar as leaders of their parties respectively. After the meeting, the three leaders will decide the formula for the state cabinet and departments.
