Maharashtra Politics: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has made a big allegation of Maharashtra Assembly elections. He has said that BJP won the election by ‘match fixing’. Rahul Gandhi said this in his article written in a newspaper and described it as a big threat to democracy.
Rahul Gandhi’s allegations on BJP
According to Rahul Gandhi, the BJP won 235 out of a total of 288 seats in collaboration with Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP. Among them, BJP alone got 132 seats, which is its biggest performance ever. Rahul Gandhi wrote that this victory was achieved under a planned five step scheme:
1. Your people were seated in Election Commission team
2. Fake names added to the voter list
3. Voting figure was deliberately extended
4. Fake votes were cast in BJP winning areas
5. All these information and evidence were hidden
Questions raised on central government too
Rahul Gandhi also denied the change in the selection process of the Election Commission in 2023. He said that earlier this selection committee consisted of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, but now a Union Minister has been replaced by a Union Minister. This raises questions on the fairness of the Election Commission. He says “Why will someone remove a fair officer? The answer itself is hidden in the question.” The question of sudden increase in voter list, Rahul Gandhi also said that the number of voters in Maharashtra increased rapidly. There were 8.98 crore voters in 2019. It increased to 9.29 crores in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. But after this, voters increased to 9.70 crores in just five months. According to Rahul Gandhi, this is a sudden increase in 41 lakh voters.
Cleaning of BJP and Election Commission
The BJP rejected these allegations of Rahul Gandhi outright. Party spokesperson Tuhin Sinha said that Rahul Gandhi repeatedly discredit the democratic institutions of the country. The Election Commission has made it clear earlier that the reason for the increase in the number of voters is to join the voter list of the youth. ” The Election Commission said that a large scale campaign was launched to connect new voters, which is why the number of voters has increased rapidly.
