Two children died due to drowning in Gaya’s rubber dam on Wednesday. The deceased include a girl and a boy. Meanwhile, three other children have also been injured.

A major accident took place on Wednesday in the rubber dam built on the Falgu river in Gaya, Bihar. Some children of scouts and guides drowned while taking bath. Two of these children died, while others were rescued. Three children are undergoing treatment in the hospital. It is being told that first a child started drowning in the rubber dam, in order to save him, one by one other boys and girls also got into the deep water and they started drowning. The relatives of the deceased are in bad condition and crying.
The deceased have been identified as 17-year-old Riya Kumari and 16-year-old Alok Kumar. Both were residents of Belaganj. Nancy Kumari, resident of Manpur block, Manisha Kumari, resident of Khanjahanpur, are undergoing treatment at Magadh Medical College, Gaya. It is being told that all the children were associated with scouts and guides. However, he was not on duty at the time of the accident. The SDRF team immediately carried out a rescue operation and pulled the drowning children out of the water and took them to the hospital.

According to Gaya district administration, an amount of Rs 4 lakh each is being given as compensation to the families of the two deceased children. Let us tell you that these days the Pitru Paksha fair is also going on in Gaya and a large number of devotees offer Pind Daan and bathe in the Rubber Dam. However, the place where the accident occurred is located at a distance from the fair venue.
