Mallikarjun Kharge: The controversy that arose over the allotment of land to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and his family has now deepened. Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot has sought a reply from the state Congress government in this matter. The opposition alleges that Kharge’s family trust has been given special benefit of land allotment in an illegal manner.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s son and Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge has reacted sharply to the Governor’s summons for a reply. He alleged that the Governor is acting unnecessarily swiftly in cases related to Congress leaders while he has maintained silence in cases related to BJP and Janata Dal (S) leaders.
BJP raised questions on allocation
BJP has accused Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s family trust of being allotted land in an illegal manner. In fact, Siddharth Vihar Trust associated with Kharge’s family has been allotted five acres of land in a high-tech aerospace park in Bengaluru. Apart from Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyank Kharge and other members associated with his family are included in this trust. The opposition has raised the question that how did this trust get permission to become an aerospace entrepreneur?
Governor sought reply on BJP’s complaint
In the complaint filed by the BJP, questions have also been raised on the role of the Chief Minister. The BJP says that the role of the Chief Minister should also be investigated in this matter as to whether he exerted pressure to allot land to the trust?
In the complaint filed by BJP, there is also a demand to dismiss Priyank Kharge from the post of minister. On the complaint of BJP, the Governor has sought a reply from the state government. The Governor has written a letter to the Chief Secretary and sought clarification in this matter.
Congress leader surrounded the governor
Congress leader and state government minister Priyank Kharge is furious over this step taken by the Governor. He alleged that the Governor immediately becomes active on complaints lodged against Congress leaders. On the other hand, his response to complaints lodged against BJP and Janata Dal (S) leaders is quite cold.
His office immediately becomes active to save BJP leaders. He said that many documents were given to the Governor against BJP and JDS leaders but all the files are rotting on his table. He has not taken any action in this matter.
Priyank Kharge, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister in Siddaramaiah’s government, said that whenever a complaint is lodged in the Governor’s office, no action is taken in that matter unless the Governor himself takes an initiative. He is busy suppressing the complaints made against the opposition.
Demand to dismiss Priyank Kharge
On the other hand, the controversy over the land allotment to a trust linked to Kharge’s family has now deepened. Opposition leader Chalavadi T. Narayanaswamy has demanded from the Governor that Priyank Kharge should be removed from the cabinet in this matter. He alleged that Kharge’s family has cheated the entrepreneurs of Scheduled Castes.
The opposition leader said the Siddharth Vihar Trust is linked to Kharge’s family and has been allotted five acres of land under the Scheduled Caste (SC) quota in Hi-Tech Defence Aerospace Park in Bengaluru by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board.
This allotment was made during the last month of March. This land has been given to Kharge’s family by dividing the part of the land reserved for civic amenities. He has demanded strict action in this matter as soon as possible.
