There is still anger among the doctors over the gruesome incident of rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. CM Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with the doctors at her residence on Monday. This was the 5th round of talks and after that she said that we have accepted 99 percent of the demands of the doctors. Despite this, the doctors’ protest will continue today. This attitude of the doctors is a matter of concern for the Bengal government, which is constantly trying to persuade them and get them back to work.
CM Mamata Banerjee announced that Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal, Director of Health Services and Director of Medical Education will be removed from their posts. Even after this, the doctors’ protest will continue. Doctors say that they will protest on Tuesday as well. Sources say that the doctors are keeping an eye on the Supreme Court hearing to be held today. They feel that they will return to work only if the court gives a decision in their favor. Apart from this, they also want to remove the Chief Secretary.
After a long conversation with the doctors, the Bengal CM had said, ‘Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and North Division Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Gupta will be transferred. The doctors had claimed that Goyal had told them that he wanted to resign from the post because we do not have faith in him. So we have accepted their demand and transferred him.’ Mamata Didi claimed that there was a good conversation with the doctors and we have accepted 99 percent of their demands.
Banerjee said that the name of the new Kolkata Police Commissioner will be announced by 4 pm on Tuesday. Mamata Banerjee said that you people should now return to work. No disciplinary action will be taken against them. I will appeal to them to return to work because the common people are facing problems. At the same time, the doctors say that we will wait for the decision of the Supreme Court. Apart from this, they have also demanded the removal of the Chief Secretary.
Let us tell you that on Monday evening at around 6 o’clock, a delegation of 42 doctors reached Mamata Banerjee’s residence. During this meeting, the doctors agreed to withdraw their demand that the meeting should be live streamed. It is worth noting that the CBI is in full action in this case. The agency is also questioning many TMC leaders.
