After the incident of rape and murder of a female doctor in a Kolkata hospital, the ruling TMC is under fire. The statements of many TMC leaders are also creating problems. Meanwhile, former MP Kunal Ghosh visited the victim’s family on Sunday. He also promised the victim’s father to improve the party’s attitude. Ghosh later said that the victim’s father has said that he only wants the culprits to be caught as soon as possible. Apart from this, the ruling party of Bengal should cooperate in taking the CBI investigation forward rapidly. The victim’s father refused to comment on the conversation with Ghosh.
The West Bengal government is calling a two-day special session of the assembly to make an anti-rape law in the state. This special session is starting from today. According to the Times of India report, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee can introduce a bill in the assembly. BJP can also support this bill. Kunal Ghosh and the family of the deceased met for an hour. Earlier on Friday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee also met the family.
Ghosh said that he has told the victim’s father that if he has any confusion about his or any party leader’s statement, he can immediately alert him. It is possible that the party has left something out or a party leader has made a statement that hurt him. He said, he has told the victim’s father that if any correction is needed, he should immediately inform. Course correction will be done immediately.
Ghosh said that for the last few weeks he had to participate in many political debates. It is possible that he may have said something inadvertently which may have hurt the victim’s family. He said, I tried to assure the family that the administration is not being negligent in catching the culprits.
The victim’s father did not comment on the conversation with Kunal Ghosh but said about the proposed bill, there has always been a need for strict laws for such crimes. But first the administration should ensure transparency so that the culprits are arrested. Unless the criminal is caught, what will strict laws do? According to information, the proposed bill of the West Bengal government talks about death penalty or life imprisonment for the culprits of rape.
