In Surat, Gujarat, police have seized Mephedrone (MD) drug worth Rs 35 lakh. Besides, one person has also been arrested in this case. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. Giving information, officials said that the accused had purchased MD from a supplier in Mumbai, so that he could sell these drugs in Surat. In the press release issued in this case, it was said that a person was caught from a public place by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Surat city, who was identified as Asif Shaikh. 352 grams of drugs were seized from the accused. During interrogation, the accused told that he did not have a job. So he decided that he would earn his living by selling drugs.
Had no job, then started selling drugs to earn a living
It was told in this press release that Asif then came in contact with a supplier of drugs who lives in Mumbai. After this the supplier provided Mephedrone to the accused. The accused recently went to Mumbai to take delivery of smuggled drugs and then reached Surat with the drugs. After this, SOG launched an operation and arrested the accused and registered a case against him under NDPS. Let us tell you that the investigation in this matter is still going on.
Drugs have been caught before
Let us tell you that earlier 12 kg of cocaine was recovered in Kutch district of Gujarat. Ten unclaimed bags were recovered from a creek near Gandhidham town in Kutch district. The value of this 12 kg cocaine was estimated at Rs 120 crore in the international market. Regarding this, Superintendent of Police of Kutch-East Division, Sagar Bagmar said that preliminary investigation in this case has revealed that the smugglers might have hidden the drugs due to fear of being caught. Bagmar said that the police had conducted Sunday’s raid on the basis of a specific information. During a search of an area, 10 unclaimed packets containing cocaine worth Rs 120 crore were recovered.
