Modern drugs worth Rs 3 crore recovered in Ratlam, the accused had come to pick it up from Mumbai with his family for a special reason.

Tal police station of Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh has arrested four smugglers including husband and wife and recovered modern MDM drugs worth about Rs 3 crore. These drugs were purchased from someone in Ratlam and the accused were taking them to Mumbai, where they were to give it to someone else. Police say that this is probably the first case of such a modern drug being supplied from Ratlam to Mumbai. Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar gave information about this in a press conference on Friday.

He said that Tal police station yesterday arrested Mumbai resident Mohammad Nadeem, his wife Saba and their two sons and recovered 3 kg of MDMA drugs worth about Rs 3 crore and 1.898 kg of Dodachura from their possession.

The accused had brought Rs 27 lakh from Mumbai

According to the police, during the initial interrogation of the accused, the police came to know that the four accused were being used as couriers. Someone from Mumbai had given them Rs 27 lakh, after which all four people came to Ratlam by train. He came to Ratlam and bought three kilos of MDMA drug from someone. During interrogation, it was also revealed that the leader of the accused, Mohammad Nadeem, runs a shoe shop in Mumbai.

SP Kumar said that the accused are being thoroughly interrogated to find out the person from Mumbai who gave money to buy drugs and the person who sold drugs in Ratlam. For this, the police has sought remand of the accused from the court.

The accused had brought the children along to escape from the police.

He further said, ‘Drug smugglers believe that usually less attention is paid to the suspect when he is with a woman and if a person is with the entire family, then investigation is lax. Keeping this in mind, accused Nadeem had brought with him not only his wife Saba, but also his two small children.

Police expressed fear of drugs being produced in the area

According to the SP, earlier modern drugs like MD were being brought from Mumbai to Ratlam, but this is probably the first time when drugs were being sent from Ratlam to Mumbai. Describing it as a very shocking thing, he said that there is every possibility that MDMA is being manufactured somewhere in Ratlam or its surroundings and it is being supplied to other parts of the country.

Police team will get a reward of Rs 10 thousand

Only after interrogating the accused, it will be clear from whom they had purchased the drugs in Ratlam and whether the payment of Rs 27 lakh given by an unknown person in Mumbai was made in Ratlam or not, this is also a matter of police investigation. Actually, for how much money was the drug deal done and how and who paid for it.

The SP has announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for the police team that recovered these intoxicating drugs.
