Budget 2024: Today, the Narendra Modi government tabled the first full budget of the third term in the House. The government made big announcements for many sections including wage earners, pensioners, farmers, women, youth, students. Talking about the benefits of farmers, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an allocation of Rs 1.52 lakh crore for agriculture and allied sectors in the financial year 2024-25. Sitharaman said that a comprehensive plan has been outlined to promote research, sustainable farming, increase oilseed and pulse production and integrate technology into the agricultural landscape. However, farmers are unhappy with the budget announced by the government. First Rakesh Tikait and now the farmers sitting on dharna at Shambhu border have called the Modi government’s budget a hoax. According to them, the budget should have provided MSP guarantee law and loan waiver for farmers.
This time too, the farmers sitting on dharna at Shambhu border got nothing in the name of MSP guarantee law and loan waiver in the budget. Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee leader Sarwan Singh Pandher called it a pessimistic budget and said that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made a record by presenting the budget for the seventh time in a row. At the same time, another record has also been made that the Modi government has ignored the farmers for the seventh time. This budget is nothing more than a pessimistic budget.
Did not even get 3 percent of the budget
Sharing a video on his social media handle, Pandher said that farmers and labourers constitute about 70 percent of the population. There is a budget of Rs 48 lakh crore, out of which Rs 1.52 lakh crore has been given to farmers, which is not even 3 percent of the budget. He said that in this budget, there is no provision for MSP guarantee law, nor is there any mention of loan waiver for farmers, there is nothing to provide employment to labourers. Farming has been completely ignored. In the budget of only Rs 1.52 lakh crore, it is being said that natural farming will also be encouraged, seeds will be discovered according to the environment and rural development will also take place, which is impossible.
Youth cheated in the name of job
Pandher said that this budget is negative and directionless. There is no plan for the development of agriculture in it. On the other hand, on the issue of employment for the youth, Sarwan Singh said that they will not get government jobs and what jobs will the corporate sector provide. All this is just an illusion.
