Amit Shah was referring to a video of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir last month, in which Gandhi was seen coming out of an ice-cream parlour after dinner at Lal Chowk in Srinagar. Earlier, during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Rahul Gandhi was seen riding a bike in Ladakh.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that efforts are being made to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir but it will be buried so deep in the Union Territory that it can never come out. Along with this, he also took a dig at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Jammu and Kashmir and said that the opposition leader is eating ice cream and riding bikes there because the NDA government has made the region safe.
Addressing an election rally in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, Amit Shah said, “We have made Kashmir safe. That is why today Rahul baba is riding a bike in Kashmir and abusing Modi ji while enjoying ice cream at Lal Chowk. Rahul baba, you are abusing Modi ji, but this was not possible in your government. Modi ji has buried terrorism in the ground.” Shah said that if your government was in power, you would neither be able to eat ice cream nor ride a bike.

Amit Shah also took a dig at senior Congress leader and former Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, saying that the former Home Minister can now walk in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk without any fear. Amit Shah said at an election rally in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, “Sushil Kumar Shinde, who was the Home Minister during the Congress government, has just given a statement that at that time he was afraid of coming to Lal Chowk. Shinde sahab, now walk in Lal Chowk with your children. No one can dare to harm you.”
Shah claimed in another rally in Kishtwar that the alliance of National Conference and Congress will not be able to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing an election rally in support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and former minister Sunil Sharma in Padder-Nagseni assembly constituency, Shah said, “Today my promise to the people of this area, which has a history of sacrifice since terrorism raised its head in 1990, and the people of entire Jammu and Kashmir is that we will bury terrorism so deep that it can never come out.”

He said efforts are being made to strengthen terrorism again like in the 1990s. The Home Minister paid tribute to all those killed in terrorism-related incidents. He specifically mentioned BJP leaders Anil Parihar and Ajit Parihar and RSS functionary Chandrakant Sharma. He said, “The National Conference and Congress have made promises like releasing terrorists from jails after their government is formed. I am telling you in front of the Maa (Machiyal Mata) temple that this is Modi’s government and no one has the courage to spread terrorism on Indian soil.”
Shah said that the BJP government has empowered the Gram Raksha Praharis and Special Police Officers and they are being given modern weapons. The Home Minister said, “Security net is being laid in such a way that anyone (terrorist) who wants to come here from anywhere will have to face death at the hands of our army and police personnel in these hills.” Earlier, Shah had come on a two-day visit to Jammu on September 6 and 7. Monday is the last day of campaigning in 24 assembly constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir, including Padder-Nagseni. Voting will be held here in the first phase on September 18. (With Bhasha inputs)
